Just me again

Well, here I sit in the middle of the desert and it is 31 degrees and falling. The lowest it has gotten here so far is 21 the other night. It actually snowed in Baghdad for the first time in 40 years, we were supposed to get some, but it never got to us. We are still waiting on the rainy season to start. Right now we should be sloshing through mud and muck up to our ankles most every day. I’m sure not complaining, just stating the norm. The heaters have a hard time keeping up with the cold; it usually drops down into the low 60’s in our rooms at night. You just throw another blanket on and wish you were at home curled up next to someone special. What else are you going to do?

Cheri is still enjoying her new house, every week she comes up with a new idea for something or another way she wants to decorate or move something. Mostly she comes up with things for me to do when I come home.

I really don’t have anything new to add to my last letter. I am now the Ops/Admin person for the group I’m assigned to. Our admin went home on emergency medical leave and since I was already Ops and he and I had been sharing the admin job anyway I got it. No more money, but the experience is good. For sure it will help me if any promotions come up; at least I know how to do the jobs that are required of a coordinator. The worst part is hours of paperwork or should I say computer work. Cheri says she’s sorry every time I talk to her and fuss about it, but I know she’s really not. I have not been going out near as much so I know she likes that part of it.

I promised some new pictures in my last update, so I will get on it now while I have a few minutes of “down” time.

Once again I thank you for all your notes and prayers. They do make time easier to bear, keep them coming.
